Mumford & Sons: 2019

From MSG to FUV! Fresh off of two sold-out nights at New York's Madison Square Garden in December, Mumford & Sons returned to WFUV for a stripped-down set of songs from their fourth album, Delta, released last fall.

The new songs come out of a "life happens" kind of category, covering the scope of marriage, divorce, and friendships. The lyrics have a stark honesty, a candor also revealed in my session with the band. "If I Say" is a heartbreaker, "Guiding Light" is a wonderful song of companionship, and "Woman" is a classic Mumford love song.

I'll chat with Marcus Mumford about the making of the record in London, working with producer Paul Epworth. Mumford also told me a great Elton John story too.
