New York City Braces for Potential Blizzard

Residents are preparing for the first major storm of the season

New Yorkers are rolling with the punches as a nasty winter storm moves through the region.

After Superstorm Sandy, New York City residents are preparing the best they can for the expected blizzard. The storm could potentially drop 10 to 14 inches of snow across all five boroughs starting Friday and continuing through Saturday morning.

Bronx Resident Gabriella Santiago said she changed her weekend plans because she's worried trains will be canceled.

"It's good that people are preparing, it's better to be over prepared than under prepared," said Santiago.  "I'm just going to go to work then come home because I don't want to get stuck in the city."

Other residents are making sure the fridge was full for the weekend.  Anthony Jones stocked up on food supplies.

"Went shopping, filled the refrigerator up, planning on staying in the weekend," said Jones. "Hopefully it'll be better by Monday."

City officials warned residents to expect delays and cancellations at airports and other transportation hubs.  The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is taking precautions and planning on shutting down some subway lines into Friday evening.
