Newark Airport One of Many Cancelling Flights to Israel Today
Both of United's flights from Newark Liberty International to Tel Aviv were canceled Tuesday after a rocket landed near Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport. An El Al flight left as scheduled. Seventeen-year-old Nir Golan, of Brookline, Massachusetts, arrived from Boston to find his connecting flight canceled. His family booked a flight to Germany and a flight from there to Tel Aviv. Golan says he can't judge whether the security threat was substantial enough to cancel the flight. Jack Ram, of Tel Aviv, prayed before entering the departure gate for the El Al flight. He says Israeli travelers are used to the threats.
