Over a thousand pictures and films to be displayed.

Rarely seen photographs and home movies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt are included in a new exhibit opening at the FDR Presidential Library and Museum in the Hudson Valley.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that the exhibit of nearly 1,000 historic photos and films includes a rare color photograph of FDR that was taken at his Hyde Park home in August 1944 for the upcoming presidential campaign. The portrait was published for the first time ever in the newspaper's Thursday editions.

The photographer's granddaughter recently donated to the image to the FDR library.

The exhibit, titled "The Roosevelts: Public Figures, Private Lives," opens Tuesday at the FDR Library and Museum, located on the grounds of the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site.
