Music lovers have been able to buy exclusive vinyl releases the third Saturday of April for Record Store day for the past 8 years. Now the founders of Record Store Day want to make every Tuesday, Vinyl Tuesday.

The global release day for new music moved from Tuesday to Friday earlier this year. Carrie Colittan is the co-founder of Record Store Day. She said Fridays and weekends are already busy with other releases like movies. Colittan said Vinyl Tuesday would create an opportunity for records to shine.

"We're helping them go on a day where stores can give them a little more love, a little more promotion, where people can shine a little bit more," Colittan said.

Colittan assured fans of Record Store Day Vinyl Tuesdays won't replace the annual event. The weekly program will feature five different kinds of vinyl releases, most of which aren't necessarily Vinyl Tuesday exclusives. These include catalog releases, promotional and commercial releases, releases before the digital album comes out, releases specifically for the Record Store Day indie store community and previously released digital/ CD albums being released on vinyl.

Colittan said Vinyl Tuesdays are expected to start in July.
