Riders Critical of New Jersey Transit System

A new survey shows customer disatisfaction.

New Jersey Transit riders are saying their transit system is nothing to write home about.

A new customer satisfaction survey reports riders aren’t happy with high-fares, late trains, and service interruptions.

Janna Chernetz with Tri-State Transportation Campaign said the survey should act as a wake-up call.

“More money needs to be put towards fixing the transit system,” said Chernetz.

NJ Transit spokeswoman Courtney Carroll said the transit system's aware of its faults.  “We are certainly looking at what we can do better and what we need to improve,” said Carroll.

While Carroll said many things are a work in progress, she acknowledged complaints about pricing, saying fares will not rise in 2012.
