This week is the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles' groundbreaking Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It is one of the most innovative and influential albums of all time. To mark the occasion, listeners Gordon and Kevin have suggested today's Question of the Day: songs that mention military ranks. We'll spin your requests after 9am.

Here's what we played:

XTC "Generals & Majors"

The Decemberists "Cavalry Captain"

David Bowie "Space Oddity"

Pete Seeger "Waist Deep in The Big Muddy"

Paul & Linda McCartney "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"
