Subway tube repair to continue into next year

Sandy-related subway woes are expected to continue through next year.

MTA Chairman Thomas Prendergast says that tunnels flooded in lower Manhattan may have to be closed at night and on weekends for repairs.

He said the agency will work on the two that were damaged the most. In all, nine tubes were damaged substantially.

Work already is under way at the flooded Montague and Greenpoint tubes.

Prendergast spoke at a breakfast of the nonpartisan Citizens Budget Commission on Tuesday.
