If you were a fan of the HBO show "Treme," you know a little of the world that shaped Trombone Shorty, aka Troy Andrews He's from that unique musical corner of New Orleans and he does it proud, with a bold and modern take on the tradition. Like the Marsalis and Manning brothers, Andrews hails from a talented family, and it's been quite a journey. He now makes his Blue Note Records debut with the new album, Parking Lot Symphony.

Crossover and cross-pollination are the New Orleans musical blood, and Trombone Shorty has shared stages with Lenny Kravitz, Foo Fighters, Hall and Oates, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. He's young but no stranger to New Orleans legends like Dr. John, Allen Toussaint and Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

It was a real treat to welcome Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue to celebrate their new album on one of Manhattan's illustrious stages — The Bowery Ballroom — in a show that mixes up a gumbo of explosive sounds.
