Tonight's UKNY at 11 is dedicated to all things 2018 Mercury Prize, looking at the twelve shortlisted artists and albums that might win the UK and Ireland's most prestigious music award which will be announced this Thursday, September 20, at a ceremony held at London's Eventim Apollo Hammersmith and broadcast on BBC 4 and via BBC 6 Music.

The nominees, chosen this year by an independent judging panel of peers and music industry figures that included Marcus Mumford and Lianne La Havas, offer up a panoply of very established (Florence and the Machine) and more emerging (Jorja Smith) artists in all genres, like the progressive alternative jazz of Sons of Kemet, grime poet Novelist, the melancholy, post-divorce pop of Lily Allen, and Nadine Shah and Everything Everything's take on a chaotic world.
