The pastoral sounding band name Underhill Rose actually comes from its founding members, Eleanor Underhill and Molly Rose. They met at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC, drawn together by singing John Prine's "Angel from Montgomery."

Sally Williamson joined after meeting Molly at a dance class, adding her upright bass to Eleanor's banjo and Molly's guitar. With three writers in the group and three voices in harmony, they are a potent combination, which their studio session amply proved.
