WFUV Remembers: Dr. Frank Jobe
Dr. Frank Jobe and former pitcher Tommy John joined Mack Rosenberg and me on July of 2013 as part of our 2013 Baseball Hall of Fame Edition of One on One. Dr. Jobe made a substantial impact on the game of baseball by pioneering Tommy John surgery in 1974. The surgery helped repair ligament damage in Tommy’s elbow and it was the first kind of this type of procedure.
It has helped countless pitchers rebound from an injury that once ended careers. Dr. Frank Jobe passed away this past week at the age of 88. He might be gone, but his legacy and impact on the game of baseball will never be forgotten.
