The countrified lilt of classic Laurel Canyon folk rock can be discerned in the lush, slow-burning songs of the Los Angeles trio The Wild Reeds, but there's far more brewing in their tender-but-tough music.

Led by three vocalists and guitarists with a knack for sublime harmonies — Kinsey Lee, Sharon Silva and Mackenzie Howe — the group is on the brink of releasing a new album, The World We Built, on April 7. The yearning beauty of songs like "Capable" showcases the band's mighty vocal arrangements and rapturous unpredictability.

Like a lot of bands navigating SXSW, the Wild Reeds were busy running around in Austin when FUV caught up with them at Hotel San Jose. Even after a 7 a.m. start to their day, this performance of a new song called "Fix You Up" showed that there is nothing quite like this band's grip on gorgeous harmonies.
