Winter's Eve 2012 at Lincoln Square

WFUV Presents

Details

On Monday, November 26, 2012 the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District and presenting sponsor Time Warner will host the Thirteenth Annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square – New York City’s largest holiday festival! Winter’s Eve kicks off with a neighborhood tree lighting ceremony and features free entertainment, food tastings, in-store activities and shopping around and about this colorful and vibrant neighborhood.
Stores, restaurants, cultural organizations and public spaces in the district will be buzzing with activities for both children and adults. At the same time, sidewalks along Broadway from Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle to 68th Street will be alive with performers, street musicians, jugglers, stilt-walkers and more, making for a festive fun-filled stroll through the streets of this dynamic Upper West Side neighborhood.

Admission to Winter’s Eve is FREE, but consider bringing a gently used or new coat of any size to Winter’s Eve to help keep local children and families warm this winter and support the New York Cares Coat Drive. New York Cares especially needs children’s coats and large men’s coats this season to help those in need citywide.

Winter’s Eve 2012 will kick off at 5:00pm with the Upper West Side’s holiday tree lighting ceremony at the Winter’s Eve Main Stage at Dante Park – Broadway & 63rd Street. Join world renowned singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega, the cast of Avenue Q, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, WABC-TV’s Sade Baderinwa, and special guest Laurie Berkner as we welcome the holiday season, light up the Upper West Side and jump start the evening’s festivities.
This year’s 25 foot Norway Spruce will be extra shiny as Wendy Addison and Tinsel Trading in conjunction with the American Folk Art Museum are decorating it with old-fashioned silver glass glitter ornaments.  The tree will be on display through January 2013.
