The De Blasio family is moving from Brooklyn.

New York City Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio is choosing to live in Gracie Mansion.

De Blasio and his family were debating whether to move to the Manhattan mansion or stay in their Brooklyn neighborhood.

De Blasio released a statement on his website Wednesday saying is family "will miss Brooklyn" but called the chance to live in Gracie Mansion "an honor."

The mansion is the official mayor's residence but has not been home to a mayor since Rudolph Giuliani left office in 2001.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg remained in his Upper East Side townhouse though he oversaw extensive renovations to the mansion.

De Blasio, his wife and their two children have long lived in Park Slope, a progressive neighborhood that helped shape the mayor-elect's political identity.

He takes office January 1.
