New York Wants to Import Medical Marijuana for Epilepsy Patients

New York has requested federal permission to import out-of-state marijuana so children and young adults with epilepsy can get medication soon instead of waiting for the state to develop its own program.
Acting Health Commissioner Howard Zucker, in letters to the Justice Department, said there's evidence that cannabidiol, the active ingredient in marijuana, may help those patients who are suffering and not responding to conventional treatments.

NYC Council Considering Plan for Arts & Culture

Some New York lawmakers are trying to make the city more friendly for artists. The city council is considering conducting a study that would examine the state of art and cultural education in New York, and create a plan to support the city's artist community.

"Arts and culture do not affect just those who work in the field," said Stephen Levin, who is sponsoring a bill to create the plan. "They affect all of us. They inspire us and challenge us, and they make us the dynamic people we are. And the dynamic city we are."
