Group says Christie Administration is Stalling Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

Medicinal Marijuana was legalized in the state in January 2010.

A group in New Jersey says the state's preventing the distribution of medical marijuana.

Ken Wolski is Chief Executive Officer of the group Coalition for Medical Marijuana. He says the group pushes the state to improve medical marijuana policies, but the Christie administration hasn't listened.

"We submitted an extensive critique of the regulations, and we pointed out where each of these regulations were going to hinder the program," he said. "We might have well have been talking to the wind. They just ignored everyone of our criticisms."

Mary O'Dowd, Commissioner of the New Jersey Health Department, says the administration is working hard with physicians and distributors.

"Our goal is to implement a program that allows qualified patients to obtain this marijuana in a timely, safe, and secure manner," she said.

The department says a dispensary could be up and running this fall.
