Anti-Gun Violence Demonstration Planned in NYC

The Hands Across the Brooklyn Bridge demonstration will take place this weekend.

In the aftermath of the Connecticut school shooting, New Yorkers have a way to demonstrate their opposition to gun violence.

State Senator Eric Adams and civil rights lawyer Norman Siegel are calling on New Yorkers to come together and join hands this Sunday on the Brooklyn Bridge. Siegel says the demonstration is a way for people to unify on the issue.

"There's a lot of people who've been talking about what they can do," he says,"People can write letters, they can sign petitions, and have a public forum but I think having a public response from people in the New York area could be an important visual."

Siegel says all New Yorkers are invited to come at 5PM Sunday evening on either side of the bridge, and he asks they bring a candle.
