Morning Brief: April 1

New Taxis Won’t Rule the Roads Just Yet

New York City’s Taxi and Limousine Commission intended to roll out a standardized taxi fleet this month, but thanks to an advocacy group’s appeal, that plan is once again taking a backseat. Talk of making the boxy Nissan NV200 a city standard has persisted ever since the vehicle was selected as the “Taxi of Tomorrow” in 2011. But the plan has repeatedly been blocked in court—the latest setback comes on the grounds that the taxi mandate oversteps administrative authority.
