New York Mayor Bloomberg reacts to news of Osama bin Laden's death.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the city's spirit is stronger than ever.
He and other officals spoke Monday at the World Trade Center site after the death of Osama bin Laden. They paid homage to victims of terrorist attacks there in 1993 and 2001.
Bloomberg also detailed plans for the Sept. 11 memorial and the progress of reconstruction at the site. The mayor said "the forces of freedom and justice have once again prevailed."
The mayor said late Sunday that the killing of the terrorist leader doesn't lessen the suffering Americans experienced, but is a "critically important victory" for the nation.
He also said he hopes news of bin Laden's demise will "bring some closure and comfort to all those who lost loved ones" on Sept. 11.
