Buildings to be added must be approved by City Council.

The commission on Tuesday voted to add 190 residential and commercial buildings between West 79th and 87th streets to the Riverside West End Historic District.
The district, created in 1989, currently includes 264 structures between Riverside Drive and West End Avenue.
The buildings that would be added were constructed between the mid-1880s and 1930s. According to the New York Post, the commission said they "transformed a rural area into a dense urban enclave of grand apartment buildings and single-family row houses."
The expansion proposal must be approved by the City Council.
