The Latino population is on the upswing in Westchester, prompting a community group to launch a new website.

According to the U.S. Census, the Latino population in Westchester County grew 44 percent in the last decade.

With that in mind, the Westchester Independent Living Center has launched a new Spanish-language website. It helps residents gain access to information on benefits, social services, health, wellness and education.

The Center's Executive Director Joe Bravo says the site is a vital tool for Latinos. " We know they need services that they are not receiving for a array of cultural languages as well as other reasons that they might now come out to get services."

County Executive Robert Astorino was on had for Tuesday's launch.  He says, "we don't want language to be a barrier."

The site is called La Fuente, which means the fountain.  Officials say La Fuente is the first local websote devoted to helping Spanish-speaking Westchester residents.  It's at lafuenteNY.org.
