New York City extends its gas rationing system through Thanksgiving.
New York City has extended its odd-even gas rationing system through Friday.
Gas rationing has ended in New Jersey and on Long Island. But Mayor Michael Bloomberg says 30 percent of New York City's stations are still closed.
He also noted that it's a major travel week. He says the extension should help prevent long lines. Rationing went into effect in the city on Nov. 9 in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. Damage to gas stations and distribution networks had led to hours-long lines.
