Congressional panel on guns holds Hartford hearing
A Congressional task force dedicated to curbing gun violence is holding a field hearing in Hartford.
U.S. Rep. John Larson, a Connecticut Democrat, is hosting Friday's hearing at Hartford High School. The group's chairman, U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson of California, is also expected to attend along with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, other officials and experts on gun violence prevention.
The task force was set up to help Congress identify ways it might reduce gun violence.
President Barack Obama has made it a priority to restrict guns since the December massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in which a gunman killed 20 children and six educators before turning a gun on himself.
