From on-the-spot interviews with politicians and other newsmakers to longer feature looks at local issues, the WFUV News team keeps listeners informed about the Tri-State area.
Listeners may be surprised to know that the busy, "unconventional" WFUV newsroom is populated by Fordham University students, many of whom go directly on to careers in the competitive New York City radio market. Former News & Public Affairs Director Julianne Welby said she relished the win-win arrangement. "Our reporters have a lot of energy and work hard to keep WFUV listeners informed, whether it's reporting from City Hall or spotlighting issues that aren't getting much attention elsewhere on the radio dial. At the same time, they're developing skills that will qualify them for other great jobs in the media once they graduate."
In an age of personality-driven media, WFUV News sets itself apart by keeping a spotlight on relevant, local issues and people in the Tri-State region.
