Incumbent Democratic Lawmakers Face Challenges in Connecticut

Eight incumbent Democratic state lawmakers in Connecticut will be among the candidates facing primary challenges next week.

   They include a couple General Assembly veterans. The issues ranging from how they voted on the state's 2013 gun control legislation to their stances on local political issues.

   Registered Democrats and Republicans will vote Tuesday in 10 other legislative primaries as well. Several in heavily Democratic cities are expected to be more hotly contested than the November general election.

There were no big surprises this year in New York’s primaries.

The two most notably victories were Representative Charles Rangel’s and attorney Wendy Long’s. 

The 2012 Democratic primary for the House of Representatives was billed as a tough fight for Rep. Charles Rangel, thanks to demographic changes and the shadows of an ethic scandal. And when the dust cleared, it was apparent that it had been.
