New Jersey lawmakers advanced a bill designed to improve transparency and accountability at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

It moves to the full Senate after a Senate committee approved the bill on Thursday.

New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg and state Sen. Bob Gordon are prime sponsors of the bill, which grew from lane closings at the George Washington Bridge a year ago. The closures appear to have been politically motivated.

Gov. Chris Christie says he's growing tired of the joint legislative committee investigating lane closures on the George Washington Bridge.

Christie on Thursday blasted the committee for leaked documents to the media. He accused its members of being more interested in getting their names in the newspapers and on television and he urged them to finish up their work.

The remarks were some of Christie's harshest yet against the committee, which includes both Republicans and Democrats.

The poll also shows Clinton with strong support among women New Jersey voters surveyed. Men are divided. Clinton has a slight edge among independent voters.

Others held signs and wore shirts protesting the Republican governor's call for new pension and benefit cuts.

Gov. Chris Christie was on hand Thursday, saying the Ocean Grove boardwalk marks the close of another chapter in the Jersey shore's recovery.

The religious association in the Ocean Grove section of Neptune Township got turned down twice by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for repair money before prevailing on the third try.
