Gov. Dannel P. Malloy says Connecticut can cover the cost of various ongoing transportation projects on its own for about a month.

But if a deal isn't reached in Washington to address a shortfall in the Highway Trust Fund, he said Thursday the state cannot go out to bid with 85 projects planned for next year. The list includes highway, mass transit and rail improvements, such as replacement of catenary wires along the New Haven Line.
