The annual Greek Independence Day parade makes it's way through Manhattan's 5th avenue on Sunday.  This year's event celebrates the 190th anniversary of Greek independence from Turkish Rule.  The parade's a city tradition, dating back to 1938.

Queens Lawmakers to Remove “Sexist” Statue

New York Congressman Anthony Weiner joined other Queens lawmakers in demanding that the City remove what they see as a “sexist” statue and eyesore in Kew Gardens, Queens.  Wiener wants the city to put the statue up for sale on Craigslist to raise money for the borough.

MTA Finally Quiets Subway Exhaust Fan In Queens

Special equipment is set to be installed on the fan along 50th Avenue the MTA has been using for several months to vent a nearby subway tunnel.  Queens Assemblyman Michael Gianaris says the fan is a major nuisance for residents of local high-rise apartments.
