Students Urged to Stay Inside at Central Conn. St.
Police responding to report of suspicious person.
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Police officers are responding to a report of a suspicious person at Central Connecticut State University.
The campus in New Britain was locked down Monday and students were urged to remain indoors and away from windows.
Lt. J. Paul Vance, a state police spokesman, says university police asked for assistance related to a report of a suspicious person.
University spokesman Mark McLaughlin says police urged officials to alert everyone on campus to get inside. He says the emergency did not appear to be related to a shooting.
Several police cars are at the campus. More than 12,000 students attend the university, which has a 182-acre campus.
New Britain police did not immediately respond to requests for information, and no further details were immediately available.
