One of the things that sets WFUV apart from other radio stations isn't just that we play such a wide range of great music - it's that so many of the artists come to the station to perform in the studio and talk about their music. Put together knowledgeable hosts, artists of national stature, and state-of-the-art studio facilities, and you end up with live sessions that offer real insights into the creative process.
Of course, sometimes folks are going to miss these sessions when they air live during the day. That's why we've created Words & Music from Studio A. Each Monday through Thursday night at 9pm we replay one of those on-air conversations. We're talking about legendary artists like Paul Simon, John Fogerty, Emmylou Harris, James Taylor, Norah Jones, Ben Harper, Sheryl Crow, Jackson Browne, Rosanne Cash, David Gray, and k.d. lang. Then there are the emerging artists we've introduced you to, like Josh Ritter, Nellie McKay, Damien Rice, Feist, James Hunter, Brandi Carlile, and The Damnwells. And if you miss the encore broadcast, you can always go the WFUV Archives and listen on demand.
We also offer bite-size versions of our Words & Music programs with our twice-daily Take Five features. Monday through Friday at 8:15am and 4:45pm you can enjoy a five-minute performance and conversation with an artist like those above, not to mention Beth Orton, John Prine, Imogen Heap, Jeff Tweedy, Bonnie Raitt, Dion, Aimee Mann and The Redwalls. Plus, you can download each Take Five as a podcast through iTunes, npr.org and other podcast sources. So whether you're at home, at work, or on the go, you can have WFUV with you!
WFUV's Take Five:

We pick out the best few minutes of many studio visits and create a short version for when you just want a taste - You can hear Take Five each day on the air at 8:15am and 4:45pm.
Miss a day? Listen to past Words & Music and Take Five shows in The WFUV Archives.
Take Five is available for download or subscription as an MP3 WFUV Podcast - Named one of the Top Ten Podcasts of 2006 by Time magazine.
