Tomorrow's going to be a four course Sunday Breakfast: we'll celebrate Nellie McKay's birthday and the coming of Passover, and we'll have some songs in memory of Jesse Winchester. Then, to top it off, a studio session with those purveyors of "amped up Americana," Spuyten Duyvil.
If Sunday Breakfast were a dog show, we'd have Best in Class in two categories tomorrow: British Rock Songwriter for Nick Lowe, celebrating his 65th birthday; and Contemporary Folk Songwriter for David Wilcox, whose warmth and wisdom we welcome to Studio A.
While the music loving masses have descended on SXSW, Sunday Breakfast will have a its own taste of Austin tomorrow. Charlie Faye, a New York native transplanted to Austin, will be performing in Studio A with her fine band, which includes the estimable Will Sexton on guitar. We'll also be celebrating Austinite Patty Griffin's 50th birthday and New York's own John Sebastian's 70th. Think of all the great songs between them!
