Fordham Head Coach Tom Pecora Reacts to Signing of Jon Severe

The Fordham Rams Men’s Basketball program has won just eight games in the Atlantic 10 over the past five seasons. Those struggles could finally be coming to an end as Christ the King High School sensation Jon Severe will be wearing a Fordham jersey next season. The 6’2 guard from Brooklyn is head coach Tom Pecora’s biggest recruiting splash since taking the job three years ago.

It’s late in recruiting season, but the Rams manage to get a 6’ 1” Point Guard out of Blair Academy by the name of Jermaine Myers. He’ll add depth to the backcourt and compete with Fatty McMillan for minutes. The team enters the offseason on a higher note than years past; while Kervin Bristol is gone, Chris Gaston will surely have a monster senior campaign.

That’s our cue to play. And by “our,” I mean the pep band. I work at WFUV, but I don’t call basketball games, I play music for them. As President of the Fordham Band, I help lead the group of rugby shirts next to the student section. So, in way I’m helping provide “color” to the game, but it’s quite more than that.

Stephanie Gaitley Show (3/26)

Prior to this season, head coach Stephanie Gaitley had never been to the third round of any postseason tournament. The Fordham Rams changed that with a 58-44 victory over the Boston University Terriers in the 2nd round of the WNIT. The Maroon and White takes its show on the road for the first time during this tournament against 2012 WNIT runner-up James Madison University.

Fordham outlasts Army in the WNIT, 55-46

In a raucous Rose Hill Gym, Fordham came out of the gate slow but recovered in time to win their first postseason game in thirty years over former Patriot League rival Army.  By virtue of Fordham’s first round win, the Rams will host the Terriers of Boston University on Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm.
