Five Reasons Why I Like the Yankees in the ALDS

by Nolan Silbernagel

The Yankees found out their American League Divisional Series opponent on Friday night when the Orioles convincingly defeated the flailing Rangers, 5-1, in the Wild Card matchup.

Many people would have preferred the Bronx Bombers facing Texas, considering they ended the regular season by losing 9 of their last 13 games and choked up a 13 game lead in the AL West standings. I, however, am thrilled that the Pinstripes are playing Baltimore. Here are five reasons why I like the Yankees to be victorious in the ALDS not only because of who they are facing, but because of the players donning the Pinstripes this year.

Fordham outlasts Columbia for the Liberty Cup

by Mack Rosenberg

Fordham outlasted Columbia Saturday afternoon 20-13, claiming its third consecutive Liberty Cup title. In the 11th renewal of the Cup, it was the Rams defense who came up big near the end on Lions QB Sean Brackett. A key penalty against Brackett occurred when he threw a touchdown pass on fourth down with under 2 minutes to go, but his foot was over the line of scrimmage and Fordham regained possession and ran out the clock.

The Rams came out slow in their third game of the season against the Cornell Big Red, but the offense came out strong in the second half to send the Cornell Big Red back to Ithaca with a loss. Despite scoring only 6 points at halftime, The Rams put 34 points on the board, and held the potent Big Red offense to just 27.
