Rams lose another lopsided road game in Richmond

Coming off a 44-point loss to St. Bonaventure on Saturday, one could have easily predicted that Wednesday night’s game against Richmond could not possibly go any worse.  That hypothetical prognosticator would prove at least partially correct, as the Rams fell by 44 once again, dropping a 102-58 decision to the Spiders in the Robins Center.

Richmond shot lights-out on the way to their third Atlantic 10 win of the season.  The Spiders drained 56 percent of their shots from the field, including 16-33 from beyond the arc, well above their season average in both categories (44 and 37 percent, respectively).

Junior guard Darien Brothers netted a team-high 21 points on 7-14 shooting, including 4-10 from deep.  Speedy freshman guard Kendall Anthony added 17, highlighted by an impressive 6-8 from the field and 5-7 from downtown.

For the Rams, Chris Gaston registered yet another double-double, pouring in a game-high 22 points and pulling down 11 boards.  The double-double was Gaston’s 13th of the season.

While improving upon their overall field goal percentage from Saturday’s stinker in Olean, the Rams continued to struggle from beyond the arc against Richmond.  Fordham converted on just two of their 15 attempts from three, both coming from senior guard Alberto Estwick.

The Rams are back in action this Saturday when they host GW at 1 pm in the Rose Hill Gym.  Coverage begins at 12:55 on both 90.7 FM and wfuv.org.
