Release: Junior leaves "to address personal issues."

The Fordham Athletic Department announced today that Junior Center Ryan Canty will be taking a leave of absence from the basketball team.

A press release sent out late Monday afternoon said that Canty needs "to address personal issues."

Fordham Head Coach Tom Pecora said, in a statement, "We only want the best for Ryan Canty as he addresses these issues. We will continue to support Ryan in any way we can. We ask that everyone respect his privacy at this time and we wish Ryan and his family the best as he moves forward."

Canty has been dealing with a nagging back injury since last year, and his production in the first three games of the year was inhibited. He is averaging 3.3 ppg and 3.3 rpg while averaging just 13 minutes per game.

The Rams now have only two big men on the roster who have seen significant playing time in the last year in Travion Leonard and Ryan Rhoomes.
