Rams can't stop 3-point barrage
The Rams jumped out to a 7-0 lead in against the 13th ranked team in the country but could not sustain that momentum. The Minutemen turned on the defense using a full-court press that gave them control the rest of the way.
After the slow start for the Minutemen, they went on an offensive tear. UMASS shot close to 50% from beyond the arc on the day, including 8-14 in the second half. After taking control heading into halftime with a 40-24 lead, the Minutemen added 50 more points in the 2nd half. Chaz Williams of UMASS, named to the Naismith Player of the Year Watch earlier in the season, led the Minutemen with 18 points. Trey Davis, Raphiael Putney, and Maxie Esho all scored in double figures as well.
Chris Whitehead for Fordham led the team with a career high 13 points and continued his strong play from Wednensday's win. Braden Frazier also scored in double figures with 12, but Fordham's top scorer Jon Severe was held to just 7 points.
The Rams play next at VCU on Wednesday the 29th. We'll be on with the One on One Pregame report on 90.7 FM and wfuvsports.org at 6:55PM.
