One on One stops by Cooperstown for Hall of Fame Weekend
This past Saturday, we had our annual One on One road show on Hall of Fame Weekend in Cooperstown. Ben Allen, Greg Sobchuk, and Phil Acocella took in the experience and caught up with a few key people in the weekend’s ceremonies.
Phil and Greg had a chance to speak with this year’s Ford C. Frick award winner, Giants’ and ESPN Sunday Night Baseball’s announcer Jon Miller. He talks about his career, how he found out he won the award and some of his baseball experiences including his favorite call. Check out that conversation below.
Bob Costas of MLB Network and NBC was also on the show. Ben and Phil talked to him about 2010 inductees Andre Dawson and Whitey Herzog, the qualifications of a Hall of Famer, the selectivity of the writers, this year’s resurgence of pitching, the big 2010 class of star rookies this season, and HGH testing. Listen below.
Ben and Greg caught up with Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson. Topics include this year’s Hall of Fame class, returning Hall of Famers, the town of Cooperstown, Hall of Fame artifacts, and how they choose what cap each inductee wears on his plaque. Jeff also accepted the latest WFUV donation to the Hall of Fame archives (see separate story to come). Take a listen below.
