WFUV Interviews the Mets and Yanks Top Pitching Prospects
PIcked 7th overall in the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft, Matt Harvey had already arrived in the Major League Clubhouse for Mets Spring Training. The UNC alum is in position to speed through the minor leagues after spending time with the Mets Advanced A and AA squads last year.
Before his re-assignment to minor league camp, Harvey spent his time picking the brain of all the pitchers with MLB experience, especially Miguel Batista. Harvey warmed up with Batista every day and learned how to 'finish' on his pitches from him.
In his 1 on 1 with Amit, Harvey discussed his work with Mike Nickeas and Tommy Hanson in the off-season, his views of the organization's future, and his goals for this season.
Drafted in the 8th round in 2006, Dellin Betances is one of the Yankees' highest-rated prospects. The Washington Heights native stands an imposing 6 feet, 8 inches. He looked extremely sharp in his spring outing against the Houston Astros, tossing two scoreless innings.
John caught up with Dellin, asking him what pitches he thought felt good, which he thought needed some work and what he thought of this year's pitching staff before the Pettitte signing.
