The Mets 5th starter had 7 quality starts in a row

With the Mets slashing payroll and Gee having proved himself last season, broke camp with the team as the fifth starter. However he struggled early, posting a 5.65 ERA through his first seven starts. He bounced back nicely winning his next 2 starts, and his ERA has dropped to a respectable 4.42. With the trio of Dickey, Santana, and Niese all pitching well, Gee’s performances will loom. large.

If he can continue to pitch well, the Mets rotation will become one of the deeper and more talented ones in baseball. The Amazin’s hopes of playing in October rely heavily upon the continued success of their starters and Gee will surely be a key component.

We discussed what his expectations were coming into the season, what changed after his rough start to the season, and more.
