17-year old prospect shares hometown of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia with fellow number 1 pick and NHL star, Sidney Crosby

Professional drafts are almost always unpredictable; they certainly never go exactly according to analysts’ mock drafts, especially when the field is as deep as it was in this year’s NHL Draft.

However, it was a pretty safe bet that Nathan MacKinnon was going to be chosen first overall by the Colorado Avalanche.

The 6 foot, 182 pound Center is known as being a natural scorer but also an exceptionally well distributor of the puck.

He recently led the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League to the Memorial Cup Championship and was named tournament MVP by recording 13 points.

This past season, he scored 32 goals and had 43 assists for a total of 75 points in 44 games for the Mooseheads.

Listen to what he had to say on this special night below.
