Seahawks talk Super Bowl, challenge facing Broncos

The Seattle Seahawks arrived at Newark Airport on Sunday night and then boarded buses en route to the Westin Hotel in Jersey City, where the team will be staying this week. There were many Seattle fans lined up outside the hotel, screaming as the Seahawks arrived in coach buses.
After the players left the bus, they headed upstairs to the media room where head coach Pete Carroll, quarterback Russell Wilson and other key Seahawks addressed the media. The head coach and quarterback both emphasized the importance of preparation this week as they face off against a more than formidable opponent in the Denver Broncos.
“It’s a heck of a challenge, we know we have a good defense so we’ll see how this matchup goes,” said Pete Carroll. Russell Wilson indicated that the Broncos defense is as good as advertised, “They do a great job on defense, they fly around and make a lot of plays. They do a great job of getting to the quarterback and finding ways to do that.”
The Seahawks have the league’s best defense and will be pitted against a Denver offense ranked number one as well. In addition, the challenge will be even greater for Seattle facing off against Peyton Manning and his record setting 55 touchdown passes.
“Timing will be everything against him”, Cliff Avril, a Seahawks defense end said, referring to Manning and his quick ball release. Seattle must create a pass rush to disrupt Peyton’s timing and rhythm with his receivers.
Safety Earl Thomas believes the Seahawks have been “playing every game like it’s the Super Bowl” so this group won’t be affected by the lack of Super Bowl experience it has. No one on the Seahawks roster has ever played in the Super Bowl. Four Denver players have played in the Super Bowl. Broncos head coach John Fox will be coaching in his third Super Bowl, this is Carroll’s first.
Seattle will try to keep this week as normal as possible in terms of their preparation. That will be a huge factor in determining who will win Super Bowl XLVIII. The Seahawks will practice at the Giants practice facility in East Rutherford, NJ.
