The dream began in second grade when I told my teacher that I would one day play Division One basketball.  And now, my career has come to an end.  How does one move on from something that has been the center of their life for over a decade?  Here’s my plan.

My voice is still hoarse. My eyes are still groggy. I am still reeling with a weekend hangover that’s filled with nostalgia and some withdrawal. The culprit, however, hasn’t been alcohol intoxication. It’s been three days in Waco, Texas capped by a heartbreaking one-point loss in the first round of the women’s NCAA tournament.

The Pep Band Perspective

That’s our cue to play. And by “our,” I mean the pep band. I work at WFUV, but I don’t call basketball games, I play music for them. As President of the Fordham Band, I help lead the group of rugby shirts next to the student section. So, in way I’m helping provide “color” to the game, but it’s quite more than that.

After losing to both the University of Albany and Cornell University last year, the Fordham Rams women’s basketball team flipped the script to begin the 2012 season by beating both squads on the road this past weekend. The new and improved Rams are 2-0 for the first time since the 2002-2003 season. In fact, Fordham is 2-0 on the road for the first time since the 2004-2005 campaign.
