Fordham Names David T. Roach as New Athletic Director

On Thursday October 4th, David T. Roach was introduced to the Fordham community as the new Athletic Director for the university. The University announced Roach’s hiring on September 26th while Roach was visiting his daughter who is studying abroad in Australia. Roach is now back in the States, and he is ready to lead Fordham Athletics back to where they belong.

Fordham Falls to Defending Patriot League Champion Lehigh

After jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter against the 11th best team in the FCS, it appeared as though the Fordham Rams were on their way to a 4-1 record. However, thanks to 24 unanswered points from the Lehigh Mountain Hawks and 22 yard field goal from Jake Peery as time expired, Fordham suffered its second loss of the season.

Rams Celebrate Homecoming with 34-27 Win Over Cornell

The Rams came out slow in their third game of the season against the Cornell Big Red, but the offense came out strong in the second half to send the Cornell Big Red back to Ithaca with a loss. Despite scoring only 6 points at halftime, The Rams put 34 points on the board, and held the potent Big Red offense to just 27.

The Fordham Rams 2012 season is off to a good start. Following a 55-0 beat down at home of the Lock Haven University Bald Eagles, the Rams held the lead at halftime before falling on the road to the Villanova Wildcats 28-13.

Below is the first edition of Monday Night Quarterback with new head coach Joe Moorhead. Mike Watts and I ask Coach Moorhead about many different aspects of the team’s start to the season, and we also look ahead to this weekend’s Homecoming game against the Cornell Big Red.

PATRIOT LEAGUE PREVIEW: FORDHAM

This is the seventh of seven articles that preview the 2012 Patriot League teams.  They are in the inverse order of the preseason poll voting by Patriot League football head coaches and sports information directors, who did not include their own school in the selections.

Fordham was not included in the poll because it will not be able to compete for the Patriot League championship and NCAA automatic bid in 2012, and its games against League members will not count towards the final standings for either team.
