After reportedly reaching a buyout agreement with Knicks Sunday, Amar'e Stoudemire could soon be joining a contender.

A league source told WFUV that the Dallas Mavericks are the frontrunner to land Stoudemire at this point in time, after reports had surfaced this week that they'd be one of the leading candidates. He could be in uniform when the NBA starts back up on Thursday.

Stoudemire's buyout comes in the fifth in final year of his contract with the Knicks, with whom he averaged 17 points and 7 rebounds per game.
