Fordham used the crowd, and some veteran leadership to propel them a 66-63 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday at the Rose Hill Gym. Like the last home game the Rams played against UMass, the battle of the Rams went right down the wire and foul shooting was the key.
The Fordham Rams closed out the 2012 calendar year the right away, defeating the Monmouth Hawks 82-71 at the Rose Hill Gym on New Year’s Eve. With the win, the Rams have now won three out of their last five games. That may not sound like much, but the team has shown much improvement since their 1-8 start.
Fordham committed 14 turnovers in a very sloppy first half. Those turnovers, combined with the fact that Chris Gaston and Branden Frazier, the team’s two top scorers, combined for just 8 first half points, had the Rams down 33-28 at intermission.
The Fordham Rams (2-9) were defeated by the Connecticut Huskies (9-2) in Hartford on Friday night, 88-73. UConn led by 29 at the half and seemingly never looked back. Ryan Boatwright has 26 points for the Huskies, as did Branden Frazier for Fordham, good for a career high.
After opening up the season at 1-4 on the road, the Rams were eager to give a packed Rose Hill Gym a win in their first home game. Instead, they suffer a tough loss to the Manhattan Jaspers in a game they led in the middle of the second half.
The Fordham Rams dropped their third straight Tuesday night against Robert Morris 74-58 in their 2nd Preseason NIT Game. They were only down by eight at the half, and even drew as close as 47-44 in the second, but Robert Morris went on a late 12-0 run to seal it.
Fordham came from behind to defeat Hartford 61-57 at the Rose Hill Gym.
