The first Saturday of the month can mean just one thing: Fordham Athletic Director David Roach on One on One. Despite the fact that Mack Rosenberg and I were in Philadelphia to call the Fordham/St. Joe’s game, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to get caught up on all things Fordham sports.

Rams’ kicker/punter Patrick Murray had an unforgettable senior season. Murray was a crucial piece of a Rams team that posted the school’s first winning record since 2007. Individually, he led all of the NCAA in field goals with 25 and also led the Patriot League in punting average, with 46 yards per punt. Recently, Murray was named the First Team 2012 Associated Press NCAA FCS All-American placekicker. Murray has also been named the winner of the 2012 Fred Mitchell Award, which honors the nation's top collegiate place-kicker among more than 750 FCS, Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA football teams. The award is given to the most outstanding kicker, both on and off the field.

The Fordham Football team had to trudge through nearly a foot of snow on Saturday afternoon in order to exit Michie Stadium in West Point, NY, taking with them an eight-touchdown loss that served as a microcosm of the Rams injury-marred and inauspicious 2011 season.
