Five on Three: October 22nd- A Feel Good Story

The Rangers are streaking up, the Isles and Devils are streaking down.

With Slava Voynov's suspension and the recent shootings in Ottawa, St. Louis Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo reminds us why we all love hockey. Anthony Pucik, Matt Moro and Brendan Bowers also discuss how the Rangers and Rick Nash have started to get hot, while the Islanders and Devils need to get back on the winning track.

New Look Nash

The NHL's leading goal scorer is living up to his expectations this season, for now.

When the Rangers traded Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Rick Nash back in the summer of 2012, they anticipated receiving the left wing that averaged over 30 goals a season. In his first two seasons with the Blueshirts, however, Nash only scored 21 goals in the lockout shortened 2012-13 campaign and 26 last season where he only played 65 games due to a concussion. But this season, the Rangers might finally be getting the Nash they have been expecting.

On this edition of Five on Three, Anthony Pucik, Tara Sledjeski and Martin McCormack discuss the start of the NHL season. They talk about the hot start for the San Jose Sharks, the cold start for the Boston Bruins, and also take a look at the three local teams.

Five on Three: October 8th - Season Preview

Who will hoist the Stanley Cup this season?

Anthony Pucik, Matt Moro and Drew Casey kick off the second season of One on One's Five on Three on the opening night of the 2014-15 NHL season. They discuss who they think will be dark horses in both conferences, who will disappoint and also take a look at the three local teams and how they will fare this year.

New Rules Announced for NHL 2014-15 Season

A rink makeover and harsher penalties highlight NHL rule changes for 2014-15.

Yesterday the NHL announced a few rule changes for the 2014-15 season that ranged everywhere from the rink to the shootout to face-offs. Looking through the rules, many of them focus on incidents or issues that players, coaches and fans have complained about over the years and wanted changed in some way, while also showing the NHL is looking to make the game safer and will not tolerate players taking advantage of obscurities in old rules.

A Team in Flux

Even with young talent, Barroway's recent suit against Isles' Wang shows they still have plenty of issues.

Earlier this summer, I discussed how the New York Islanders young talent indicated a bright future for the franchise. However, recent reports show the team’s future could be just as murky as ever.
