Holiday Cheer for WFUV 2012
I know there hasn't been a lot of good news in the area lately, but we're hoping to add a little bit of cheer to your Monday. It's been amazing to see people coming together, helping each other out, and even checking in with us at the station to see how we're doing in the aftermath of Sandy. So today at Noon, it's "Cheers to You"—an hour full of your song requests. What do you want to hear? Post your song ideas in the comments section below, or head to Facebook: the WFUV page or my page.
I'll play as many requests as I can in the Noon hour. Then just after 5pm, Dennis Elsas will announce the headliner of this year's Holiday Cheer for FUV benefit concert, which is headed back to the Beacon Theatre on December 5th.
Tell us your song requests, then join Darren DeVivo for a "Cheers to You" all-request hour at Noon.
It was an incredible night of music, where fans of FUV came together to support the station and each other, and fans of great songs had plenty of moments to savor. Now you can look back—and listen—to Holiday Cheer for WFUV: Live from The Beacon Theatre. Hear the complete show below, read a recap, check out the great photos on our Flickr page, and also check out individual sets from each artist: Lake Street Dive, Shelby Lynne, Steve Earle, Shawn Colvin and Lucinda Williams.
The Lone Bellow continues a long line of great Studio A debuts. After taping their first-ever radio interview at FUV, it was pretty clear to me that more people needed to hear this Brooklyn trio. We invited the band to open our Holiday Cheer for FUV concert, but illness kept them away. Since then they've treated our Marquee Members to a performance, and appeared at a Del Posto fundraiser. If you haven't had the chance to see them live yet, do your best to get there.
