Celebrating a Legend in Song and More

The five-day Seeger Fest kicks off at Hudson River Park tonight in Manhattan.  The festival honors folk singer and activist Pete Seeger, who passed away earlier this year at age 94 and his long-time wife Toshi, who passed away in 2013.  The WFUV favorite will be honored by admirers as diverse as Harry Belafonte, DJ Kool Herc, and the punk band Anti-Flag.  More info here.

Second Chance at Piano in the Park

Yesterday’s planned performance of the New York Philharmonic at Van Cortlandt Park was rained out, but for those still looking for a bit of piano in the park can find it at Madison Square Park in Manhattan tonight.  Famed French jazz pianist Jacky Terrasson plays in a quartet there from 7-8:30.  Admission is free.
